Inspired by NASA's Perseverance rover, this project involves the creation of a DIY autonomous rover, initiated during the winter break of 2022-2023. The rover is constructed with a durable PVC frame and an independent rocker-bogey suspension system. It is powered by six individually driven motors and equipped with a variety of sensors for data collection.Â
A recent test demonstrated the rover's capabilities in snowy, off-road conditions in New Mexico, remotely controlled via a smartphone with Bluetooth connectivity. Future enhancements aim to introduce GPS navigation and ultrasonic range sensing for improved autonomy and environmental interaction.
